Have I been sexually assaulted?
Many people are unsure about whether something that happened to them was sexual assault.
The important question is whether you agreed freely and voluntarily to participate in all the sexual activity that happened. It also matters whether you were fully able to give your consent or whether you said no.
Sexual assault is a crime for which the offender is solely responsible. It’s still sexual assault if you are married to or in a relationship with the person and you refused to have sex with them, but they forced you.
You should NEVER be forced to have sex with anyone. You should agree to have sex with a person who has sex with you, and you MUST be over 18 years old to give permission to someone to have sex with you.
